Being A Christian Is Work

There is no work involved in becoming a Christian. It is a gift of God. But there is work involved for Christians AFTER they become Christians. Unbelievers do not want to do the work that Christians do. They do not realize that the work Christians do is part of the gift. They do not realize that God changes people who are unable to do His work into people who are able. They do not realize that God changes people who are unwilling to do His work into people who are willing. To unbelievers God*s work looks like drudgery. For Christians, doing God*s work becomes their joy and their life-blood and they are more alive when they are doing God*s work than at any other time.

Unbelievers do not see that God guides, assists, provides the energy for Christians and that He is the One who is really doing the work. They do not see that their own work against God is far more difficult and lonely than the Christian*s work with God.

Proverbs 13:15: Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

Matthew 11:28-30: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

So what does a workman do? He works.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1 Corinthians 3:9: For we are labourers together with God: ye are God*s husbandry, ye are God*s building.

Titus 2:14: Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 Thessalonians 2:13: For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17: Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Hebrews 13:20-21: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Corinthians 3:5: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

Some unbelievers reject Christ and Christianity because to them it looks so hard. They do not see that Christianity is truly the path of least resistance. They do not see that serving God provides the most satisfaction, the most beneficial rest and the most joy. Sadly, even some Christians have not learned these things.
